Can you watch BBC iPlayer outside the UK?

Current TV Licensing guidance for BBC iPlayer says you cannot stream or download its programmes while abroad. It also explains that programmes downloaded before going overseas can be watched within their availability period. Check the programme and expiry in the official app before leaving.

Check the TV Licence requirement separately

TV Licensing says you must be covered by a TV Licence to watch or download BBC programmes on iPlayer. A licence does not turn an overseas connection into a UK viewing location or expand a programme’s regional rights. Read the current official guidance for your circumstances.

Check which BBC product a support page is describing before applying its advice to iPlayer. A shared brand name does not mean the same catalogue, account offer or travel arrangement. Use the official programme and service pages to find an option available where you actually are.

What does a BBC iPlayer VPN search tell you?
