VPN App Update Checklist: Versions, Settings and Recovery
Before changing a VPN installation, confirm the intended release, record the working setup and understand the supported recovery path for your device.

Confirm which update is actually intended for your device
Start with the installed app and the publisher’s current release instructions. Record your device, operating-system version and the app version currently shown. Then identify the proposed version, its intended platform and where the publisher says to obtain it. A file with a newer-looking name is not enough to establish a supported update path.
For JungleVPN, the Android release and setup information and Windows release and setup information explain current availability. Contact the team for the approved package and instructions before changing an existing installation. This checklist helps you plan that decision; it does not announce a new installer or a particular update feature.
Keep a small record of the working setup
Before making a change, note what currently works and what you expect the update to improve. Keep the installed version, ordinary connection outcome and relevant non-sensitive settings together. If a location choice or a system permission is important to your routine, record the visible setting and ask whether the supported update preserves it.
A screenshot can help, but review it before sharing. Remove activation codes, credentials, account details and unrelated applications or notifications. Store any recovery material using the publisher’s supported process. Do not assume that copying an app folder, saving an installer or photographing a screen creates a complete restorable backup.
For a work-managed device, follow the organization’s update process and let its administrator resolve configuration or timing requirements. Keep your personal checklist as a description of the intended change rather than permission to alter managed settings.
Match the package to the published release details
Compare the candidate file with the exact version and platform the publisher has approved. Where a release supplies a checksum, compare it with that specific file and checksum publication. Where signing details are supplied, check those too. Keep the filename, version and source URL in your record so that a later support question refers to the same package.
The Windows VPN installer verification guide covers the integrity and signing checks in more detail. The Android VPN APK checking guide provides the corresponding preparation for an APK. Those checks help establish package identity; the update decision also needs the publisher’s compatibility, settings and recovery instructions.
If the expected hash, publisher or version does not match, pause and ask for the correct release details. Keep the existing record and the exact message. Avoid trying several unrelated files in succession, because that makes it harder to explain which package produced which outcome.
Ask about signing and activation before replacing an installation
Android’s app-signing documentation explains that APKs must be digitally signed before installation or update. Signing identity therefore belongs among the release details you ask the publisher to explain. An unexpected identity or update rejection calls for clarification of the supported path.
Keep an installation rejection as an observation. Record its wording and the versions involved, then ask support what it means for that release. Uninstalling the existing app merely to get past the rejection changes the situation and may remove the working setup you were trying to update.
Also confirm how access is retained or recovered. For JungleVPN, activation takes place in the app with a one-use supercode. Ask the team about the supported procedure before a reinstall or device change; an old code should not be treated as a reusable recovery credential. Keep codes out of ordinary diagnostic screenshots.
Define recovery before using repair, reset or rollback
Write down the next step if the update does not complete or the app no longer opens. Ask whether the publisher supports returning to an earlier version, which exact file is eligible and what happens to settings or activation. Retaining an old installer alone does not answer those questions.
Microsoft’s app-repair guidance describes Repair, Reset and other program options, while noting that some apps do not provide those controls. Use the instructions that actually apply to your app. A generic Windows option is not evidence that JungleVPN supports a particular repair or recovery action.
Make time for the supported recovery process before an important work session or departure. If you cannot establish the required release or recovery details, keep the question open and contact the publisher rather than improvising a downgrade.
Check the result and keep a useful handover
After following the approved update instructions, record the version that actually opens. Review the relevant settings and any new prompt against the release information. Check your ordinary supported connection task, then note what happened in plain language. Avoid treating one successful action as proof that every previous configuration or future network situation has been covered.
If something changed unexpectedly, the privacy-conscious VPN support-report guide helps you assemble the installed and attempted versions, package source, exact message and a short reproduction sequence. Include the last step that worked and the point where the result changed. That gives support a concrete starting point while keeping sensitive access material out of the report.
